SAUREA in technology watch: Breaking the costs of III-V solar cells

The multi-junction III-V solar cells under solar concentration currently hold the records for the conversion rate of light into electricity (47%).

Although they have higher efficiencies than competing technologies, these solar cells are considerably more expensive due to current manufacturing techniques and materials.

Their use was thus reserved until now for concentrated photovoltaics or the space sector.

Active research efforts are aimed at reducing the cost of electricity generated by these solar cells through approaches such as the development of new substrate materials, absorber materials and manufacturing techniques.

Having high-performance, lightweight and flexible cells opens up new markets such as satellite constellations, solar drones and VIPV (Vehicle Integrated Photovoltaics).

Organized within the framework of the IPVF UNITE club, this event is now open to all.
